Green Island Country Club’s golf course opened in 1961, featuring a George Cobb and Joe Lee design with rolling hills sitting just off the Chattahoochee River. Just minutes from downtown Columbus, Green Island lies 500 feet above sea level, combining beauty and challenging elevation changes on many holes. Green Island hosted the Southern Open for twenty years, from 1970 to 1990. Many greats have played in the hills at Green Island; Jack Nicklaus, Larry Mize, Gary Player, and Jerry Pate, to name a few. Green Island’s history is deeply treasured and shapes a considerable portion of the timeless golfing experience. Integrating beauty with a challenge, the Green Island Golf Course is lined with mature pine trees from the tee to the green, Champion ultra dwarf-Bermuda greens, and 419 Bermudagrass tees, fairways, and rough. Featuring an up and down layout, the course is a par 71 that is 6,512 yards from the longest tees, with a slope rating of 136 and a 72.1 USGA rating. Six sets of tees offer play for various skill levels making the course a unique challenge to both novice and seasoned veterans. Call the golf shop for availability Tuesday - Sunday. Expires 6/1/2026.

A note from GSGA Foundation: The GSGA Foundation Auction raises funds to support its Yates and Moncrief Scholarship Programs. For over 30 years, the Yates Scholarship Program has provided college grants to employees, and their dependents, at GSGA member clubs across the state. The Moncrief Scholarship Program honors deserving students in the field of agronomy and turf management at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, the University of Georgia, and students who work and live in Georgia but attend an accredited program outside of the state. We appreciate the support of all those who have generously donated to this auction. Additionally, the GSGA Foundation enriches the lives of others through the game of golf by increasing opportunities for individuals with physical, cognitive, and sensory disabilities to play golf through our Adaptive Golf Program, and growing affordable access to golf for thousands of juniors through Youth on Course Georgia. The GSGA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation and contributions are tax-deductible. For more information on the GSGA Foundation, visit https://www.gsga.org/foundation.
