Savannah Golf Club is on record as the Oldest Golf Club in America and is believed to be the first American city where the game golf was played. The club was founded in 1794 and the club has archived documents to back up that date. The Savannah Golf Club and course that exists today was incorporated in 1899. The Savannah Golf Club has hosted seven Georgia Amateur Championships and one Georgia Women’s Amateur Championship The course is lines with hundred-year-old oak trees, Civil War earthen berms and plenty of flowers.
