Athens Country Club, founded in 1926, is home to a beautifully constructed Donald Ross-designed 18-hole golf course. Staying true to the design, the course has been revered for its history. In 2010, the greens underwent renovations by Ron Forse. Athens Country Club was host to the 1970 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. Athens Country Club has played a big role in promoting amateur golf throughout Georgia by hosting the Georgia Amateur Championship 7 times. The Par 72 course boasts fairways and greens are lined by Magnolia trees and Azaleas. A central lake comes into play on several holes. False fronts and elevated greens give even the best players a true test a of their abilities. Yardage from the tips measures in at 6697 yards.
